Life can be sad sometimes

Life is harsh sometimes isn't it?  We found out yesterday that a beautiful soul left this life on Monday night at such a tender age.

Mark Hamblin was such a gentle caring young man who we got to know while our daughter and he were dating.  Although they did not stay together they formed a beautiful friendship which has left her devastated. She has now lost two people whom she loved dearly.

Mark died from stage IV Melanoma.  He was diagnosed less than 5 weeks ago and never stood a chance.  I just cannot understand how life is supposed to work.  If there is a GOD then why does he take these gorgeous people?  Why doesn't he take the murderers, the rapists or the drug dealers.  I just don't get it and I guess I never will unless there is a heaven and then I will only know that once I too am gone. Life is so fragile and you just never know when your time is up, all you can do is be thankful for every day that you are given and suck every bit out of it as you can.

Mark, thank you for being such a wonderful partner and friend to  Mishae.  We will never forget you - until we see you again xox

Laidley Ride

All I can say about this ride is BRRRRRRRRR

Middle of winter and the club ride is out to Laidley, (short stop at Jimboomba for those with small fuel tanks) into Boonah for lunch and then back home via Beaudesert.
waiting at Jimboomba - so so so cold
To say is was freezing would be the understatement of the year.  I had numerous layers on and still froze my butt off.  I felt like the michelin man with the amount of layers I had on. Thermal underwear top and bottom.....Kevlar jeans and then leather chaps (yeehaw)
t shirt, long sleeved tshirt, jumper and then my leather jacket, scarf and thermal gloves - still froze.......... my fingers were numb by the time we arrived at Laidley.  I needed a coffee just to warm my hands alone.....and don't ask how hard it was to go to the ladies - I think most of my time at Laidley was spent in the loo getting undressed then dressed again.   The joys of riding your bike in cold weather.  Stuart however didn't seem to mind it (he believes that I may be some sort of reptile and that I should just sleep all winter to save him having to listen to me moan about the weather hehehehe)

Map of our ride

Stuart and I out on the open road hehehehe

Leaving Boonah
great little pub - pity they couldn't cater for us all
We all got to Boonah where we were supposed to be getting lunch but it was that busy they told us it would be over an hour before we got our food so we didn't even bother ordering anything instead we had a couple of drinks a bit of  a chit chat and just waited until we got to Beaudesert where we ended up grabbing a pie.

I can tell you I was so exhausted when we got home - my hands were stiff and sore, my butt was killing me and my neck was sore from holding that dam helmet up all day hehehehe but other than those few complaints it was awesome :-)

Ok thats it for me today - stay safe and fill your days with as much happiness as you can squeeze in ...........
