Goodbye Louie the Fly :-)

{sponsored by Nuffnang}

Recently I was lucky enough to be chosen to try out the Mortein Automatic Outdoor insect control system.  It could not have come at a better time what with Christmas just two days  away

We have had a slight issue with mosquitos and flies in our outdoor entertaining area of late so this was going to be a great spot to try the Naturgard Automatic Outdoor Insect Control System before all the relatives rock up on Christmas Day.

There is nothing worse that enjoying the beautiful weather we have up here in Queensland only to have it ruined by those pesky annoying little critters.
sitting nicely beside the outdoor tv.

Well I am impressed........ The mozzies are no more as well as those horrid little flies.  I am pleasantly surprised and incredibly happy that i have no mozzie bites anywhere. The best thing about this product is that I can now stay outside at dusk an enjoy not being harassed by insects.

The other great thing about the Outdoor Insect Control System is that it is portable so I can enjoy sitting out the back of the house or around the front :-)

I have the unit set to spray a little burst every 40 seconds and it works a treat. I am also thankful that the unit turns itself off after 3 hours of use as I can get a tad forgetful sometimes.

The unit can protect a sheltered outdoor area of 5m x 5m and   has a plant based active ingredient.

Thank you Mortein and Nuffnang

Good Bye Louie and Friends

We have been so busy lately what with Christmas parties and family and friends visiting.  We had the Make a Wish Christmas party last weekend. The Hard Rock Cafe were once again BRILLIANT in providing the location and food.  They do this at least two times a year.  Wonderful business.

Me and Nikki

Emma, Riley, Santa and his Elf

Jacob and Stuart enjoying the food and beverages at Hard Rock, Surfers

We had a great time but all too soon it was over.  We went home and had a rest as that afternoon Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary were hosting their Christmas party also.  Stuart and Jacob decided to stay home so Emma, Brittany (cousin) and I headed off on our own.  We had such a fun time.  The girls loved feeding the kangaroos.  Didn't get any good photos from there.

The wonderful Andrea Thompson  (photographer extraordinaire) came out to our home and took some more photos for us.  Andrea is absolutely beautiful and such an amazing photographer.  Make sure you head on over to her
web page and take a look.

These are just a few of the shots taken on the day.  There are WAYYYYYY more but I really do not want you to be bored to tears.

Emma is doing ok.  Her tumour is still growing and it looks bigger and bigger every time you see it.  I am still praying madly that God will give us a Christmas Miracle this year. You just never know..........
We are all looking forward to Christmas day.  We are having lunch here at our home again this year.  There are going to be a total of 25 of us.... It is so much fun when you have that much family around.  The kids get all excited and the mums and dads just sit around eating and chatting for most of the day.  My decorations this year are turquoise and silver.   Loving turquoise this season.

Was lucky enough to be selected by Nuffnang Australia  to test the

Mortein NaturGard Automatic Outdoor Insect Control System

Couldn't have come at a better time as we have had so many mosquito's around the outside area of late.  I am thinking that it has a lot to do with the weather we have been having.   I will be back in another post to tell you all about it and to give you my opinion.

Can you believe that there are only 3 more sleeps until Christmas 2012???  This year has gone super fast and they just seem to be getting faster each year.  I am hoping that you all have the most joyous of Christmases and remember why we are celebrating this season.  I will give you a little hint - it is not about the presses.........it is about the birth of a little baby boy thousands of years ago

God Bless, stay safe and have a Merry Christmas

Tough Week

We have been having a bit of a tough one this week.  Emma has been very depressed and just not feeling 100% since Friday.  She has been nauseous most days and sad. I spoke to one of the nurses at the hospital who said it could be from weaning her off her morphine.  I don't know how much more of this I can handle.  It is so hard and tiring being so strong for her.  She is normally strong and full of positivity but lately she has just been so tired.  I pray every minute of every day that we will get our miracle and that she will suddenly go into remission and live a long healthy happy life.  I keep looking at her face to see if the tumour has started to grow again.  I am not 100% sure but there is a little section that looks like it has gotten slightly larger.  Please God let this not be the case,

I am asking that if you are in anyway spiritual then please please pray for healing for our little munchkin

Holy Cow

Can you believe that it has been over a month since I blogged.  I am sorry.  Life just seems to be just one crazy roller coaster ride at the moment.

We went to Sydney and had a fantastic time.  The staff and the Park Hyatt were all simply amazing and were so eager to help in anyway possible.  We arrived at the hotel and was greeted at the door by the Manager and assistant manager.  Such lovely people.  On the way up to our room we were told that we would have a full butler service for the week that we were there.. OMG!!!!!  Not that we had any idea what we would do with one............ Lucy and Sarah were their names.  Such adorable ladies.  Sarah was fantastic as she took Emma on a tour of the room that all the stars stay in.  It is 1$16,000.00 per night and stars like Elton John, Pink, Lady Gaga etc all stay there. It was an amazing set up but I fail to see how it is possibly worth that much per night.

Our days were super busy.  Day one included our bridge climb!!!!!  Holy cow that was so high and you will never ever catch me doing it again.  I have never been more scared in my entire life.  Terrifying I tell you.  On the positive side - I am so glad that we did it all together as a family.

I don't even remember the view as I was concentrating so much on holding on.... I am sure those harness things wouldn't hold you if you slipped...............

We went to a German Restaurant one night and my word it was such a funny place.  The staff were so nice and they had guys walking around playing German music.  The food was ok, certainly nothing to rave about.....

Spent day two just looking around the city and shopping although Emma got too tired so we headed back to the resort after only short periods.  We decided to have dinner at the Hyatt's signature restaurant which I might add was fantabulous...... On the way out of the restaurant we ran into Benji Madden so Emma took the opportunity to go say hello and have a little chat.  What a beautiful young man.  He did not seem to mind that we had interrupted his dinner and was only too happy to pose for a photo and have a chat.  The thing that really made him gorgeous was the fact that he told Emma a couple of times how beautiful she looked and that he loved her choice of outfit.....

I know it is not a very good photo but my camera was in our room and only stuart had his iPhone on him. I wrote him a thank you note once I got back in the room just explaining to him Emmas situation and how much it meant to us all that he gave her those compliments.  I know it may only be small but to Emma it meant the world.  She actually felt great about herself.  Not ever did I think that Benji would take any real notice of this little note but wow was I wrong.  He went back to his room and spoke to Joel who then phoned Nicole Ritchie and then then next morning we had a small delivery LOL.... small was probably a slight understatement

Chocolates, balloons, flowers and a soft cuddly teddy from Benji & Joel Madden. Beautiful angels they are.

OMG Emma was beside herself with excitement when she received the photo from Nicole

Emma and her adorable pressies.  She has named the teddy "Madden"

This will do for tonights post.  Tomorrow night I will show you some of the photos from the zoo and photos of the amazing views from our room.  Simply magic.

God Bless

This is where we will be laying our heads or 5 nights from October 24th

And this is where we will be dining for breakfast

I will not be swimming but I am pretty sure the kids will want to, I will however probably be kicking back on one of the lounges with a good book

check out the amazing view from the bar.....

This is going to be an amazing holiday for our family.  One that is going to be jam packed with memories galore.
I am continually praying that this will not be our last holiday together as a family.  I continue to pray everyday for Emma to be cured of this evil disease. Only time will tell.

God Bless

Radiation & a holiday

Radiation is finished (thank goodness).  Three weeks done and dusted.  There has been a little shrinkage but only time will tell.  I am hoping that they will schedule an MRI in the next month so we can see the results of the treatment.  I still have not given up hope of Emma surviving this horrid cancer.  It is all in the hands of God.

Hillcrest Christian College (the children's school) held a fundraiser last week to raise funds for Emma to have a holiday in Sydney.  Wow the fundraiser was a huge success and I can guarantee that Emma is going to have the time of her life.  A friend got in touch with the Park Hyatt in Sydney and we are going to be staying in 5 star luxury for a very great price.  I cannot thank the Hyatt enough for their generosity to our family.  While we are in Sydney Emma wants to visit Taronga Zoo, climb the Harbour Bridge, see Centrepoint tower and of course do a spot of shopping.  I have been told that there are markets down at the Rocks which are supposed to be great.

Anyway we are heading off at the end of October so will have loads of photos to share.  We are all very much looking forward to it.

Emma Update

It has been so long since I have updated.

Emma has not been doing as well as we would hope.  Her tumour continues to grow and now the surgeons cannot operate as she would probably not survive the surgery.  We have been told that she may only have months left which is just gut wrenching to hear.  We have not given up hope though and she is currently receiving round two of radiation therapy in the hope that it will give her more time or better yet, shrink the tumour enough to have surgery.

She was very excited about the idea of going to Disneyland soon for her Make a Wish but they have called and said that they cannot do it now.  She is absolutely mortified and so very sad.  It is ok though as they have not heard the last of me :-)

On Sunday a girlfriend organised for Emma to do the Q1 sky walk in Surfers Paradise.   It is 270 metres above sea level.... I didn't have the guts to do it with her so daddy went.

That is all

Be back shortly with another update

Packing and More Surgery

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH i hate packing.  On the up side though I am certainly getting rid of heaps of clutter and stuff that I will never use.  The house is officially ours on the 1st of August.  Oh my it is so very exciting and we are all looking forward to the big move.  It is going to be so nice to look out the kitchen window of a morning to see nothing but grass and trees rather than the neighbours entertaining area :-)  Emma is getting rather excited that she gets to decorate her room exactly how she wants it.  She had surgery on Friday.  Yes it was rather unexpected but the day before we had seen the dentist and he said that he wanted to do two crowns, two extractions and 3 fillings.  Instead of having these done over various days he wanted them done in the one sitting and suggested that a general anaesthetic would be much more comfortable for Emma.  We got home on Thursday afternoon to a message on the phone that they had booked her in for surgery the very next day.  Wow how was that for service.  The Royal Children's Hospital certainly don't mess around.  Everything went well.  She toddled into the theatre all by herself after giving daddy and I a big kiss and telling us that she loves us :-)  She was so very brave and incredibly strong for such a little munchkin. Breaks my heart that she has to deal with this all the time.  I have been praying so very hard for this to all be over and for Emma to be healed moving on with her life.  It just never seems to end.  We have been keeping an eye on the lump (tumour) on the side of her neck and both Stuart and I feel that it has grown again.  I am taking her up to see her oncologist on Wednesday so maybe he will tell me something new.   Will keep you all updated.

Well that is about all from me tonight.  Oh before I go I must show you my latest published layout.  This was in this month's Scrapbooking Memories.  I love this photo of my two men.

God Bless

Oh I also completed my Masters entry today.  Will post it off tomorrow.  I am really happy with the items that I created but you just never know what they are looking for at any particular moment.  I wish everyone who is entering the very best of luck.

Chemo

Well chemotherapy for Miss Emma did not go as planned... She had her MRI on the Thursday and it showed that the tumour has not shrunk :-( but it also hasn't grown :-)  Her oncologist decided to change her chemotherapy protocol again as he wasn't happy with the results.  So she is now on Irinotecan x 5 days and Vincristine.  This will happen every third week.  We are out patients though which makes it a little easier on us.  She is not handling this one too well and is finding it making her a little sick.  She is tough and will get through it.  The plan is for her to have two cycles of this and then another MRI.  If there is shrinkage then she stays on it.  If not then we try something else :-(

So many chemicals being pumped into my babys poor body

Praying that God will make it his will to cure Emma of her cancer

God Bless

Published and a new car

Hi guys, just a quickie to show my latest layout, as seen in this months Scrapbook Creations. Love how this one turned out.

Secondly I wanted to show my new car.  Toyota Aurion Touring.  Fantastic to drive and so quiet on the road.  I think I am going to enjoy this.

Emma is heading to Brisbane with daddy tomorrow for her next lot of chemo.  In the 18 months of her chemo I have never missed one.  Stuart suggested that I have a break and he would do it this time.  It is 3 nights up at the hospital.  Don't know if I  am going to like this idea :-|

Ok gotta go and get warmed up a little.  Cannot believe the cold snap we are having here on the Gold Coast.  Today it only reached a max of 16C (60.8F) brrrr. Am looking forward to moving into our new home with the nice big wood heater... mmmm toasty :-)

Good night
God Bless

New House and Hospital

We got the house :-)

it is officially ours on the 4th August 2012.

5 bedroom home on 1 1/4 acres in Worongary.  Cannot wait to get into it now

Our excitement was marred by the fact that Emma has had to spend the last week and a half in hospital with febrile neutropenia.  She is fine now but it is so hard when they are not well and there is nothing you can do to make them happy.  This will be a regular occurrence while she is on this strong chemo.  It is just knocking her body around so much. She got out on Wednesday.  Her bloods were great this morning so we headed off to the circus this afternoon.  She had a fantastic time but Jacob (15yrs) grumbled the whole time.... We are off to the Mudgeeraba Show tomorrow which is something we do every year.

My time with Kaisercraft has come to an end which is sad but not a bad thing as right at this very moment I do not have the time.

Ok here are my last projects for the 2011/12 Kaisercraft Design Team

Anyway not a lot else to chat about.  Emma is having chemotherapy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Stuart is taking her up to give me a break.  It all the 18 months of Emma's Chemotherapy I have not missed one so I don't know really how I feel about missing this.  It will be nice to have a little rest though.

Hope this finds you all happy and healthy
God Bless
