Emma Update

Monday saw Stuart take Emma up to see the Oncologist and get the results of her latest MRI, the one that was done after her chemotherapy was complete.  The results show that there has been some shrinkage but that the tumour is still there.  Dr Nicholls could not be sure if it was still active or just a bunch of dead tumour cells.  I guess I was hoping for some closure but alas that was not to be.  Emma will now be on medication for 12 months in the hope that it will destroy the remaining tumour and stop it from growing.  We will be having MRI's each three months for the first year and I guess just wait and see what happens.  We are all praying that is just stays as it is forever.  Radiation is an option but just not yet.

There is more surgery planned in the next couple of weeks to remove her port o cath and also to remove the plates from her face.  This will be easy surgery and requires only one night in hospital.  Hopefully then everything will go smoothly for her.  All she wants is to be normal again just like everyone else.

I must say that she is soo excited about the upcoming trip to America.  She is madly trying to save all her pennies so she can have some spending money.

Ok have loads of stuff to create today so had better get going and get it done.

Thank you so very much for all the emails and comments in regards to our precious little Emma.

It is good news that there is some shrinkage but I am sorry to read the tumour is still there.

I hope and pray that what is shown on the MRI really is just a bunch of dead cells.

I also hope that the medication will make a big difference and in time your beautiful brave girl will be back to normal and all this will be behind her.

It is fantastic she has something so exciting to look forward to. What a special holiday this is going to be.

Our family has recently found out one of my nieces (age 22) has a large tumor behind one of her eyes. It is making her have headaches, blackouts and loss of vision. She has had loads of tests and is now on a trial medication to see if that helps her.

It sure is worrying watching a loved one go through this stress. It makes me appreciate more of what your family has been through. I think of you often and keep Emma in my thoughts and prayers.

Have a lovely day and keep warm. From Susan McGuire (smiles1965) at Scrapboxx :)

So sorry to hear that it's still there Leanne...but at least it has shrunk...that's gotta be a good thing. Let's hope the medication takes care of the rest. In the meantime it's so wonderful that Emma has her America trip to look forward to! So exciting!
