On the 9th September Emma went into surgery, this is also the day my father died 12 years ago. My emotions were so wired.
Miss Muffets surgery was supposed to take between 6 - 8 hours but they came across a couple of road blocks so in the end it took them 10. Those 10 hours would have to have been the longest 10 hours I have ever experienced in my life. During her surgery she needed 6 units of blood transfused. She came out of it beautifully. I didn't know what to expect when I first saw her in Intensive Care but immediately burst into tears. I think the tears came from immense relief that she had made it not so much what she looked like hooked up to all the machines.

Well there you have it. She is out and home a week earlier than originally anticipated. She is very sore and gets easily frustrated with the fact that she has to eat a mushy diet until her jaw fuses together again but that is just trivial stuff now.
In December she will need to go back for surgery to remove the plates from her jaw but that should only be an overnight stay. We need to have MRI and CT scans done every 3 - 4 months for at least the next 10 years just to make sure it does not come back.
We do not know if they managed to get all the tumour out yet and will not have any answers until the pathology results come back but I will keep you all posted.
Thank you all for your prayers, kind thoughts and lovely comments, they are so appreciated.
