Quilt, lampshade and pillow

Well I have been sewing up a storm, well sort of. A while ago I made a small quilt for Emmas bed using the divine Ava Rose fabrics. Mmmm just love these. Seeing as I was having difficulty quilting it I decided to take it to my local quilting store where it will be done. Whilst at the store I noticed that they were having a class on covering lampshades, well I decided to do that also using the Ava Rose fabrics...... The class is on the 17th April so will show you once I have made it. I am using a lamp shade that I found on ebay. Really cheap too. It is a vintage bell shape so should look rather cute once covered. To finish off her room I have ordered even more of this fabric to make cushions for her bed.
Now All I have to do is convince Stuart to paint it a beautiful colour to match all this yummy goodness and get her a new bed.
I just had an idea (and no it didn't hurt lol) I have a large plain canvas somewhere around here so I may just go and cover it with the left over bits from her quilt. She is going to have such a cute little room. Wonder if it would be pushing too much to ask Stuart to get rid of the carpet and lay timber flooring for her........ mmmm I can just imagine what he would say to that (hehehehe)

3 more sleeps......

..............until I see mum. I fly out on Tuesday morning and am really looking forward to it. Don't know what we have planned but I am sure I will have a fabulous time. Stuart and the kids are heading down to our family business in Tea Gardens where I will then meet up with them on the Sunday.
I managed to scrap a page the other day. I think it only took about 45 minutes which was fabulous as I had so much else that I should have been doing..... :-)

I took this photo of Emma a few years ago and have always loved the look of it so decided that I should finally scrap it. I totally loved the papers that I worked with, so divine.

Ok so while I am blogging I need to let you know about a competition over at Suse Hocking s blog. She has just started creating these adorable sewing patterns and if you go and visit her and leave a comment then you are in for the chance of winning one of her patterns. I can definately vouch for them as I have completed the adorable handbag (a few posts back)

Anyway that is it for me at the moment. Will be back soon hopefully with more layouts to share. Until next time take care and stay safe

Been a bit quite....

...........but I have been super busy, you see my darling husband and I are in the process of setting up our new business, yep we have taken the plunge and are now business owners again. We are opening a Registered Training Organisation otherwise known as an RTO. Stuart finishes at his very lucrative job this Friday (eek!!!!) and then it is full steam ahead. This is something that we have been working towards for a while now so it is fantastic to see it come to fruition.

We are both in the training industry more so Stuart who has been managing a very large private college here on the coast for the last 4 years, so this seemed the next logical step for us.

I am still going to have time for my scrapping though thank goodness. I will only work school hours so I am still here for the children. The bonus that comes with being your own boss is that if the children are sick or we want to take the day off for any reason then we just do it. It is going to be fantabulous.

Ok gotta go and get my baby girl into bed. She slept over at a friends last night and I don't think that there was much sleeping going on. As soon as she is in bed then I can scrap. I was going through my stash last night and came across an acrylic album that I had purchased ages ago so thought I would pull it out and create an album about my girls. I will leave you with a little snippet of the cover.
Hope this finds you all happy and healthy

friends layouts and sewing

Met up with an old girlfriend today from my school days. It was fantastic to see her again after all these years and the conversation did not stop. She has the most adorable little rug rats too. I am hoping that we will be seeing lots more of them from now on seeing as she is living just up the road.

I was going to share the layouts that I created on Friday night but one is on display in the store and the other is tucked away for a competition that they are running. I can however show you one layout that appears in this months Scrapbook Creations magazine. It is a layout I did of my son's first fat lip. Am hoping that there will not be any more for a long time but being a boy I am sure there will be.

I also had the pleasure of pattern testing for my friend Susan Hocking.

Susan asked me if I would like to test her new pattern "Ruby Ruffles" yeah as if I am going to say no to an offer like that. The pattern was fantastic and very easy to use. The result was this cute little girlie bag you see below. If you like sewing little bags then do yourself a favour and grab one of her patterns. If you click on the link above then you can see where they are available.

Stuart and I had a meeting with the school this morning to discuss how we are going to make Jacob's schooling easier and less stressful for him. You see Jacob has Autism and is struggling a little with the whole grade 8 thing. I believe that it will get easier and better for him but at the moment he is unhappy and finding things very hard. It is heartbreaking as a parent when you see your child hurting and knowing that there is not a lot you can do for them. We are working very closely with the school now to alleviate any problems that may occur by getting on top of them early. This time next year I will probably be wondering what it was I was worried about.

Our eldest daughter was lucky enough to win a trip to Fiji today. She has been taking part in a competition at her workplace where they had to get positive feedback letters or something along those lines from their clients and Mishae got the most. She does such a wonderful job where she is and seems to have found her niche. Wonder how many tickets she gets LOL - could do with a nice break in Fiji......

Anyway it has come time for me to go as it is bed time for Emma and I need to go tuck her in. Hope this finds you all happy healthy and smiling.

Kaisercraft tonight

Am heading to the Kaisercraft store in Robina tonight for a scraping frenzy. It will be fun to sit down and just scrap for a few hours.

I do have one little project to share with you but you will have to wait until Monday..... It has been secret squirrel stuff. Lets just say that I have been sewing my fingers to the bone.

Am going to visit an old school friend on Monday. We have not seen each other for 25 years so I dare say there will be lots to talk about. I cannot believe that it has been 25 years since I left the town I grew up in but it has. So much has happened in those years, good and bad.

Anyway I have to go and get my stuff ready for tonight. Am hoping to have a few layouts to share with you in my next post - as well as my sewing project.

Take care and stay safe

Wowsers

How much rain have we had lately. I heard on the radio this morning that this is the wettest summer in 6 years. I am certainly not complaining as my garden is finally looking nice and green and hopefully this means that they will lift the water restrictions.

Things have been quite around here this week, seems to be the story of my life. Stuart is in Sydney for a conference and Mishae has gone to Tasmania to see my mum. Jacob and Emma have both had projects due this week so they have been busy little beavers this weekend getting that all organised. Jacob has had to do our family tree (going back 5 generations) and Emma has had to write a talk on cyclones. I don't know what we ever did without computers as most of their information has come off one. It must have been so stressful for us researching projects.

Unfortunately I haven't really done a lot of scrapping this week. I have done a layout on 2009 but I haven't taken a photo of it yet so cannot share.

Anyway just wanted to touch base and say a big HI to everyone.

Take care and stay safe
Leanne
PS I am definately scrapping today though as is raining which makes for a perfect day to stay inside and scrapbook........
