Very Quiet

It is so very quiet at our house this week......

Our children have left us for a whole week to visit their grandparents. I am finding it very hard as I miss them heaps.

We put them on the plane on Saturday and won't see them again until this Saturday.

Stuart and I took the opportunity to go out for dinner on Saturday night which was lovely, just the two of us. We then came home and he sat on the couch and watched the football and I went to bed and read a book LOL. Sunday we got up early and went on an MX-5 Car Club run which was beautiful. The weather was perfect to be driving around in a little two door convertible sports car. Bliss. One of the ladies that was also on the run took a photo of us both which was lovely seeing as I am usually the one behind the camera

Once we got home from the run we got changed and then headed on over to the hospital to visit our friends and their beautiful little baby. He is just the sweetest little munchkin and I had a hard time letting him go. We toasted his birth with an amazing bottle of Grange Hermitage Wine. We have a bottle of the same wine but we are not opening ours until Stuart's 40th. Apparently the bottle is now worth approx $1000. Maybe I should just sell it LOL...... We have had it now for 11 years so I guess selling it would probably spell DIVORCE hehehehe. The boys thought it would make for a good photo to pop the wine in the babies bed..... Silly men.

Got to sleep in this morning - strange.

Take care and stay safe

Busy Week

We have had what's felt like a very very busy week.

It started on Friday when we dropped Stuart off at the airport for his early morning flight to Melboure, work and then the after school pick up. We then got ready and went out for a lovely dinner with an amazing group of women. I was the only one to take my babies as I have no babysitter and I am very happy to say that their behaviour was absolutely perfect. We went to a little Malaysian Restaurant in Mudgeeraba and the food was divine. No photos to share of this one sorry :-(
Saturday was a pretty cruisy day, slept in until 8.30 when the kids decided to get out of bed and then lazed around house until Emma had to go to Karate training from 4 til 6. They only had light training to get ready for the Tournament the next day.
Sunday we awoke at 5.30am!!! It was still dark!!!!!!
Had to drive to Deception Bay for the Regional Karate Tournament. What a day that was. Emma had 28children in her group which was huge! She didn't get anywhere with her Kata but ended with the silver medal in Kumite (non contact fighting) Just think "Karate Kid" movie. Couldn't believe it when she came away with the silver medal, she even beat boys to get that. She is a talented little girl

Emma (smallest one) and friends

the moment of impact (yes it is supposed to be non contact)

getting her silver medal

School report came home today. She walked up to the car with tears in her eyes and I thought oh my how bad can it be. She showed me her report and there was a B for Physical Education.... What the!!!! Everything else were straight A's and she is adamant that she will be going to see the PE teacher tomorrow to get a please explain. The joys of having a 9 year old perfectionist.

Ok well I have dribbled on here long enough so will go.

Athletics Carnival

Well this was the first year that I have not been able to attend the children's Athletics Carnival :-(

Obviously it didn't bother them as they both had a wonderful day. Jacob came a very close third and from all accounts it was almost a tie for all three for first... I was told by another mother that if Jacob had not looked around as often as he did then he could have come first. Hey I am just over the moon that he completed let alone come a place. He now gets to go to district and compete against other schools.

Emma won just about everything as usual and has walked away this year with the Age Champion Medal. She was so happy.

Needless to say at this moment I am one very proud mumma.

Stuart has flown down to Melbourne for the weekend so just the kids and I. That means that I don't have to sit and watch football tonight YAH.

The children and I are supposed to be going out for dinner tonight with the mums from karate. I am the only one taking my children as I have no baby sitter but that is ok as I think they have deserved a special treat but I am not sure that we are going to get there as I am really not feeling all that well (headache).
Anyway I have to go and get the children bathed and dressed. Emma has red all over her and also has red hair. As you probably guessed her school house colour is red.....
Emma has a karate tournament on Sunday so will be back then with the results.
Take care and stay safe

Weekend Happenings

Well my weekend has been incredibly mundane. We have not done anything very exciting at all. I was planning to start on Emmas quilt but only got as far as pinning it. I guess that is a start.

We went to a friends place last night for a bit of a slapstick dinner and then Stuart was back over there today to watch the football and eat chili chicken wings.

Emma had a friend over for a play this afternoon and all they did for the two hours was sit in the lounge and watch a movie. The movie was all scratched at the end so they never got to see the ending LOL I now have to hire the movie out just so Emma can see the ending. Too cute.

Oh well I should really be making a start on this quilt so I am out of here. I hope you have all had a more exciting weekend than the Love Family.

Take care and stay safe

Shopping and Laughter

Val and I had a fantastic time is Brisbane this past weekend. We went up for the scrapbooking convention and had such fun. I am also very happy to say that I didn't spend much money (can't say the same for Val though)

We each did a class on the Saturday, Val made a beautiful layout and I came out of my class with a not so nice memo board. Our classes on Sunday though were fantabulous and I made the cutest little file folder thingie with Lynette Carrol. She is an Aussie (living in USA) and has been designing for K&Co. She told us on the weekend that her family are moving back to Australia for 6 months of the year.

I also have a layout to share but you are going to have to wait for that as it is for the Butterfly Crafts Challenge. I will show you on the 15th.....
Am getting excited now that I have booked the retreat. In case you were not aware Kim Archer is holding a mammoth retreat not to be missed the first weekend in November. Honestly you would be a total fool to miss this one. You get to meet Mardi, Janelle, Yvette, Kim and last but not least Mel. It promises to be a weekend to out shine all weekends.
I am currently sitting here in my craft room with the heater on as it is absolutely freezing here and has been the past couple of days. I think it is going to get down to 4 degrees here tonight. Can't remember the last time it was this cold. Brrrrrrr
We have been trying to book a cruise for September but seeing as the boats take limited numbers of youth we cannot get on one until the end of March 2010! Looks like we have to go back to the original plan of a week in Fiji.
The time has come for me to go and get the rug rats into bed where it will be nice and warm and cosy. I hope this post finds you all well, happy, safe and most importantly - WARM
